About Poptillas Chips

"ALL-NATURAL SINCE 1923

WHEN OUR GRANDFATHER STARTED THIS COMPANY IN 1923, there were basically only two types of preservatives in existence – salt and an icebox. Food was always made with all-natural ingredients.

That’s just the way it was – and it’s just the way it still is at Classic Foods. The flavors are real. The ingredients are real. What you taste are pure, unadulterated potato chips and tortilla chips – fresh from our kitchen."

This is something I believe and am grateful to know this company thinks about our health!

FACTS TO KNOW!
"Artificial Colors: If a color doesn’t exist in nature, it definitely doesn’t belong in your body. We don’t buy the argument that artificial colors make snacks more appealing to the eye. Do you? We didn’t think so. Food should taste good, and be good for you. There’s an old adage “eat with your eyes,” but we don’t believe this should come at the expense of the rest of your body."
"MSG: Although not recognized officially as an allergen by the FDA, there are a number of reported negative reactions to MSG. Other companies would like you to believe that it is a “flavor enhancer” or a “sodium enhancer.” We believe flavor should only come from natural flavors. It is more expensive, but would not give anything to you that we would not feed our own family."

¡HECHOS CONCLUSIVOS!

Girls Scout #Healthy Snacks Figurines, learning to eat right!

Hello, how are you all doing, are you ready for the festivities around the world?

A couple weeks ago, we had our girls do a snack project. This project was making healthy snacks with fruits and vegetables.

It was awesome to encouraged them to make something with these vegetables and eat them afterwards.

It was very interesting to learn what and why they do not like and do not eat certain vegetables and/or fruits. They were also asked to make a story about their figurines, it was a laugh!

Here are some of the snacks that were made, enjoy!

I was amazed at how much of the vegetables and fruits were eaten. On that same day, we made some smoothie and the same vegetables they did not eat, they drank them in the smoothie.

Parents: Take note, the children may drink the vegetables instead of eating them.

Girls Scouts Cooking and #Sharing

Hello, Hello Hello,

We are in the month of December, the month to share some extra love and do some extra giving.

If you have never done it, try it it give a feeling of joy to see how it makes other feel the love and caring  of others. It is not something that anyone can share with you, a feeling of appreciation, I am trying to explain, but everyone is different. Do it, you will not regret sharing that love or giving something!

Well, the girl scouts have been very active learning how to be responsible and how to help mommy/daddy or guardians. For me it is an experience to share the kitchen with my little one and to see her making her breakfast and wants to make everyone's breakfast.

A couple weeks ago the girl's scout were asked to make dinner. Well, it was lovely as it was a small group. Pasta was the quickest and easiest meal.

Some of the meals were:
  • macaroni and cheese
  • spaghetti and turkey ground meat
  • bowtie and ground turkey meat

It was really great to see the result of the girl's task. Some of them were happy to do it, others were doing it because it had to be done. Basic result is that they know how to make their lunch and to help mommy in the kitchen.

Another scavenger hunt.....Belated Happy Birthday Juliette Gordon Low!!!!

The second day of the Scavenger Hunt was quite a long but learning day. We began in North Miami, then to the Keys then the Everglades, well almost. There sure is a spice of Life in Miami, Florida!

OK, let see where we are going to take you all today! First, we are off to the Miami Zoo. Some interesting information about the zoo.

The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, branded and commonly known as Zoo Miami, formerly known as Miami MetroZoo, is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only tropical zoo in the continental United States. It is located on the old Richmond Naval Air Station[5] site, southwest of Miami in southern metropolitan Miami-Dade County, in the center of the census-designated places of Three Lakes (north), South Miami Heights (south), Palmetto Estates (east) and Richmond West (west). It houses over 2,000 animals on 740 acres (299 ha), 324 acres (131 ha) of which are developed. It is about 3 mi (5 km) around if walked on the path, and has over 100 exhibits.

The history of the zoo can be traced back to 1948, when 3 monkeys, a goat and 2 black bears were purchased for $270 from a small road show stranded near Miami. These 6 animals were the beginning of the Crandon Park Zoo on the island of Key Biscayne, just southeast off the coast from downtown Miami. The zoo was reopened in 1980 as Miami MetroZoo with a preview section of 12 exhibits and Asia, the first major exhibit, opened on 12 December 1981. A total of 38 exhibits, covering 200 acres (81 ha), were open to the public at this time.

There are four main exhibit sections in the zoo; Asia, Africa, Amazon and Beyond and Australia. The property includes a large lake, called Lake Iguana.

The Miami Zoo is a interesting place to spent the day! It is over 100 almost 100 years, not as old as the Girls Scouts!

Just a peek!

Next we continued our path to the Southern part of Miami, Florida. Off we go to the Homestead-Miami Speedway. We would hope one day for the girls to see an event. Some information about the race track.
Homestead-Miami Speedway is a race track in Homestead, Florida southwest of Miami.
Since 2002 Homestead has hosted the final races of the season in all three of NASCAR's series: the Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, and the Camping World Truck Series. Ford Motor Company sponsors all three of the season-ending races; the races have the names Ford EcoBoost 400, Ford EcoBoost 300, and Ford EcoBoost 200, respectively, and the weekend is marketed as Ford Championship Weekend. The Nationwide Series (then known as the Busch Series) has held its season-ending races at Homestead since 1995.
The speedway was constructed, with the efforts of promoter Ralph Sanchez, as part of a plan to help Homestead rebound after the devastation caused by Hurricane Andrew. Groundbreaking began August 24, 1993, exactly one year after the hurricane.
It opened in November 1995 with a NASCAR Busch Series (currently the Nationwide Series) race, the last race of that season. The Busch Series would continue to hold its season-ending races at Homestead; in 2002 NASCAR's Winston Cup Series and Craftsman Truck Series would also hold their season-ending races at Homestead as well. Since 2002 NASCAR has marketed the seasons-ending Homestead races as Ford Championship Weekend.

We certainly had fun outside getting some exercise and one day soon we will be inside to enjoy an event!
If you would like to add some information, please send me an email!

Almost there!

Getting ready for pic.

Have a great weekend, the Girls Scout troops sure will! More to come in the next adventure!
We are in the point of Florida, can you guess where our next stop is? Let's see who is Good at this Guessing game!!!!

The Wonders of Scavenger Hunt in South Miami - Girls' Scout! #Travels

Well, we sure did a lot of travelling in one day! First in the Northwest, now we are going South west. Let's see what there is to see that is of interest to the Girls' scouts.
We took a break to have lunch. The girls were happy to stretch their legs and wander around.

Baptist Hospital of Miami is a non-profit hospital located in Miami, Florida, United States operated by Baptist Health South Florida.
It was founded in 1960 with only 650-bed and is now one of the largest hospitals in the Miami area. It has facilities throughout Miami-Dade County, into the Florida Keys, and in southern Broward County. Baptist Hospital is a non-profit organization hospital in the Miami area, handling a volume of over 100,000 patients a year. The hospital attracts international patients from the Caribbean, Central America and South America. Baptist Hospital is the eleventh hospital in the United States to receive the ”Magnet” of excellence in nursing. The hospital is currently celebrating its 50th year in operation.

Next, we head for Camp Choee. Camp Choee is a 20 acre site owned by the Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida, Inc. In an effort to support the membership, a program center and other multi-use facilities are available for troop and leader meetings, training workshops and program activities.

It is always an adventure when we go to Camp Choee, Girl's Scout life!

Til next time!

Our Scavenger Journey....

Hello once again, did you all guess where would be our next stop in Florida? Oh, come on,let's make this exciting, have a guess for the next stop! Well, the next stop was close by which was in the same area. It was not far away as we passed it on our way. We sure made it an adventure. It was the Matheson Hammock Park, great for a family outing on the weekend.

Girls trekking
A little history about Matheson Park.
Originally built in the 1930s from land donated by conservationist William Matheson, this  is a lovely scenic park's man-made lagoon, refreshed by Biscayne Bay, is warm, shallow, and calm, making it an ideal place for little ones or those who simply enjoy a peaceful practice session. A large sandy beach is dotted with palm trees that provide some shade. You can enjoy the view of downtown Miami and Miami Beach across Biscayne Bay by walking the loop around the lagoon. Matheson is also a prime spot for Kite-Boarding. The park also has a full-service marina, snack bar and restaurant built into an historic coral rock building, picnic pavilions and nature trails. Matheson also contains a sailing and power boat school. View the Matheson Hammock Marina website for more details.

Mom trekking
So, now that you have seen the first two places, will you take the challenge to see where our next stop is going to be? Let's see who knows South Florida? Will be waiting for responses on FB or by mail. Let's join in the fun!!!

Our Scavenger HUNT 2012 - Getting to know our History! #Miami #USA

Hello, Hello!!!

Well, We certainly were ready for our next adventure after the warming up doing fast walking early Saturday morning dd October 6th .

We were on our mission to find several places on our list for the second day. The first place we stopped was South Miami Little House

I tried to find information about this little house but did not find too much.
Girl Scout South Miami Little House in South Miami, Fl is a private company categorized under Girls Scout Organization. The records shows that it was established in 2001 and incorporated in Florida. If someone knows additional history, I will update my blog. It is very interesting to know about these places. Girl Scout has many activities there : troop meeting, troop camping, events and training. It is a beautiful spacious place.

This is one of many place we stop at that day. It was fun to know different parts of Florida and a wonder outing with the girls. #1 off our list.

Will see you soon to tell you about the next stop we made. Can you think of what the next stop would be? Let's start the guessing game, up for the challenge?

Girls Scout in Action - Exercise to Keep Healthy!

Hello All,
Hola Todos,

Hope you all are having a GREAT weekend! This weekend is for relaxing as last weekend was a bit hectic.

Sharing what our troop has been doing! We join some other troops and we sure started the weekend on a good Spirit.

We were supposed to round up our troop at 8am. For a saturday morning, I really was not in that mood so I go there an hour late. Good timing as that was when most of the troops were gathered at the park and we decided to make a start.

The girls had fun looking at the geese and talking with them.

Several of the girls decided on the warm-up exercises.

After warming up, we began our main event to walk 5 miles; we had to walk around half the complex 5x. Wow, we did some brisk walking. Some of the younger girl scouts did in very little time, especially those who have so much energy.

Wow, hemos hecho algunas caminar a paso acelerado.

Well, it sure was a beautiful day, warm and windy, which was very good for us. Not a dark cloud was in the sky but beautiful blue sky.

There was a bit of a cool down time as everyone was having their liquid, when we heard ok time to have another event. Well, there was a tug and war, very exciting to see the girls challenge each other.
Then, there was a brilliant idea, time for the mom against the girls. Well. who won...am not too sure, was quite an exercise!

Next, we had a skipping rope event for the girls which they enjoyed immensely since it was to see who can jump the most. It was amazing to know that some of the girls was not sure how to do it, was great that they did very well and looking forward to our next exercise event!!!

Tug of war mom n girls
We certainly had a fulfilling day and was ready for action afterwards. We had a Scavenger hunt in Florida. That was interesting and very EXCITING! Will post in the near future for your enlightenment!

Badge for exercising!!! Yeah!

Would give me great pleasure to read your comments!!

¡Me daria mucho gusto leer sus comentarios!!
