Hope you are doing well and having fun in the wonderful weather here in Miami. Get all stuff done and enjoy family outing early. I did not see the weather report but the sun shine is really beautiful making the day peaceful as you hear the birds chirping in the wind. You can also enjoy the cats enjoy the lovely day making their noise as they court each other.

Some weeks ago, I was called to do a Consultancy Relocation Project. This project entails the disconnection of 100 computers and attaching names and location the computers are being located in the other building. We needed disconnect all computers and accessories to pack all the individual computer accessories together for transportation. It seemed like a fairly easy and quick job to do as we began our task. It was a team of five members so we had an even 20 computers per person. We worked steadily until everything was packed and the movers packed in the container for relocation.

We had a break as we traveled to the new site to unpack and placed the computers and accessories at the new job site. It took us longer than I thought but the computers were safely packed in bags and on the way. We had some really great tech conversation while relaxing for our break. It is always fascinating to hear others 'experience on the job and exchange of ideas.

The longest wait was the transportation of the equipments and computers. You can always plan but it does not always happen the way in the technology world. One must always learn to improvise and have a back-up plan and a back-up to back-up that plan.


The transportation took longer than was expected. As technicians' we were flexible and made sure everything was ready for the delivery and unpacking to be done faster and the connection and verifying that the system was operable and running.

We worked as fast as we could but there were some mismatched and that took time as the all the computers were not transported in one batch. As timed passed by we lost a couple team members but we completed the task and was able to leave content with ourselves with a job well done. It was great returning home and cruising the fairly naked street and quiet neighborhood asleep and in peace. It was such a difference compared to the busy morning with the school bus and busy parents taking the kids to school.

Technical Workshop: Windows Server 2012 Hands On Lab

It is vacation for some but sometimes some have to go above and beyond.  A couple days ago some techies attended  had a great workshop. It is always great to meet new students and alumni of your old school. It is also awesome to attend a workshop with a great teacher!

Es vacaciones para algunos, pero a veces algunos tienen que ir más allá. Hace un par de días tuvimos un gran taller. Siempre es un buen momento para conocer nuevos alumnos y exalumnos de la vieja escuela. ¡También es genial asistir a un taller con un gran maestro.!

 The Director of Education Mr. Cott lead the workshop with the assistance of the Help Desk Technician Mr Roberts.
 
El Director de Educación el Sr. Cott conduce el taller con la ayuda del técnico de Help Desk Sr. Roberts.

 All students and alumni were given a monitor, a system unit, a keyboard, power cord plug, power supply plug, etc. We had to connect the computer, configure and install the Operating System.

Dieron a todos los estudiantes y los alumnos un monitor, una unidad del sistema, un teclado, enchufe del cable de alimentación y enchufe del suministro de energía, etc. Tuvimos que conectar el ordenador, configurar e instalar el Sistema operativo.

 While installing Operating System, we created our network cables to create a Star Network. Yes, it is fun while working.

Mientras instalando el Sistema operativo, creamos nuestros cables de la red para crear una "Red Ethernet". Sí, hubo diversión mientras trabajamos con musica.

We installed and configured our operating system and created our network cable. We all connected to a 24 port switch and verified our network was working by pinging each other.

Instalamos y configuramos nuestro sistema operativo y creado nuestro cable de red. Todos estamos conectados a un switch de 24 puertos y verificado que la red estaba trabajando haciendo ping entre sí.

  Once we were all connected to the 24 port switch and able to ping one another, we set up Active Directory Domain Services and DNS. We ended the day with some refreshments.

Una vez que estábamos todos conectados a el switch de 24 puertos y capaz de hacer ping, configurar los Servicios de dominio de Active Directory y DNS Terminamos el día con unos refrescos y sabrosos pizza.

It was an awesome day with fellow IT students working as a team and doing what we have done many times: configuring, installing, creating network cables, configuring operating system, troubleshooting  and networking.

Se trata de un maravilloso día con colegas, estudiantes que trabajan como un equipo y haciendo lo que hemos hecho muchas veces: configuración, instalación, creando cables de red, configuración del sistema operativo, la resolución de problemas y trabajando en redes.

Technical Organization~~>Computer labs #Techies #Technologia informatica

Hey all you techies,

How are you all doing? It's been a while that we had to clean up and make space for some computers in the lab. Well, the new semester has begun and classes are on the way. We updated with all the new new test exams and all applications, users and passwords. There are some new tricks we did so the secretary did not have to go to the lab to set the pre test. Perhaps there is another way but we used teamviewer.

¿Cómo están haciendo? Ha pasado un tiempo que tenía que limpiar y hacer espacio para algunos equipos del laboratorio. Así, el nuevo semestre ha comenzado y las clases son en el camino. Hemos actualizado con todos los nuevos examenes de pruebas y todas las aplicaciones, usuarios y contraseñas. Hay algunos trucos que hicimos para que la secretaria no tiene que ir al laboratorio para establecer el pre test. Tal vez hay otra forma pero usamos teamviewer.

For a lab technician, it is not easy when the equipments cannot be found in its' place. Well, this also happens at home when mommy is looking for the box of glue that is not in the school supply container. Isn't that so, mommy? Well, it is wonderful to see a stock room or lab clean and organized. It seems so spacious compared to when it is disorganized and untidy. It seemed so tiny and in need of space. I am sure if we had more space we would use it, lol. It is so great to find what you need and in it's place as it is labeled. That is a big sigh of relief. Isn't it nice to smell a home smelling fresh and clean as well as organized. It sure feels the same way in a neat and organized lab,  it sure depends on the lab manager.

Para un técnico informatico, no es fácil cuando los equipos no se encuentran en su lugar. Bueno, esto también sucede en casa cuando mi mamá se está buscando la caja de cola que no se encuentra en el contenedor de escuela. No es así, mamá? Es maravilloso ver a un almacén o el laboratorio limpio y organizado. Parece tan amplias en comparación a cuando está desorganizado y desordenado. Parece tan pequeño y de necesidad de espacio. Estoy seguro de que si teníamos más espacio lo usaríamos, lol. Es tan estupendo para encontrar lo que se necesita y en su lugar, ya que tiene una etiqueta. Que suspiro de alivio. No es esto agradable de oler una casa que huele fresca y limpia así como organizada. Lo cierto es que siente la misma manera en un laboratorio limpio y organizado, seguro que depende del lab manager.

Doesn't it feel good when you go into a computer lab and it looks neat and clean. It makes a difference and a good impression. What do you think?

#Latinas and #Technology ~~> Makes a difference in the World today!!!!

Being a Latina in a male dominated field - technology is not easy. A female works twice as much or more in this field. I must say although there are many egotistic males in this field there are many great teachers/professors and companions that I happy to be affiliated with on my journey. Here are some that inspires me on my journey and hope to meet some day.

Siendo una Latina en un campo dominado por el sexo masculino - la tecnología no es fácil. Una mujer trabaja el doble o más en este campo. Debo decir aunque haya muchos varones egocentricos en este campo tambien hay muchos grandes profesores y compañeros con quien estoy contenta de afiliarme en mi viaje. Aquí están algunas de las mujeres latinas que me inspiran en mi viaje y que espero conocer algún dia.

Estas mujeres han contribuido y se reconocen por cambios en la corporación gigantesca como la IBM, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard , Cisco y muchos más. Hay varias de ellas que poseen su propia empresa y están contribuyendo a su comunidad siendo un mentor y apoyando grupos y clubes. Es impresionante ver Latinas técnicos y/o ingineras haciendo la diferencia en nuestra comunidad que continúa creciendo mientras que motivan e inspiran a las generaciones más jovenes.

As a mom, blogger and techie,  I admire this lady for her work.

Last but not least, I have great respect for these ladies whose work I have had the pleasure to see.

Last weekend was the Official opening of the  Microsoft Store in South Miami at 11 a.m. by the 

 ribbon cutting ceremony with Microsoft’s John Case, corporate vice president, Office Division, where he presented $1 million in software grants.

El fin de semana pasado era la Inauguración oficial de Microsoft Store en Miami del Sur a las 11:00 con 
la ceremonia de recorte de la cinta por John Case de Microsoft, vicepresidente corporativo, División del Office, donde presentó $1 millón en subvenciones del software.

It was a day a full day of celebration. Free concert tickets were given away for a special performance by Lupe Fiasco and Gym Class Heroes on Saturday evening, May 18. Microsoft  store presented all the latest curated assortment of products: Surface,  Windows 8 PCs, Windows Phones, Kinect for Xbox 360, Office products, and much more. There were many great deals offered.

Hello again and hope you have a wonderful day. Mine started at a fast pace but also very promising- interesting as well. I believe that there is a reason for everything and things fall into place as it should and not accidentally.

Hola de nuevo y les deseamos un día maravilloso. Mi día comenzó a un rápido ritmo pero también muy prometedor - interesante así. Creo que hay una razón para todo y las cosas caen en el lugar como corresponde y no accidentalmente o por causalidad.

I have been trying to think of a way to help others around me and sometimes I just let it happen til I see it is necessary and sometimes I just react spontaneously. I donated my skills today!

He estado de pensar en una manera de ayudar a otros a mi alrededor y a veces simplemente dejar que suceda hasta veo que es necesario y a veces simplemente reaccionar espontáneamente. He donado mis habilidades hoy! Fantástico.

I committed myself in sewing some bags to hold the pecha for KFC. Well, I started early this morning to get the measurements of the bag and cut the material and verified what other materials were needed: the lining,  bias tape and threads. The material was folded badly from the factory then was cut badly therefore nothing was lining up. I needed to have the graphics on the material matching and finally the cutting was done and straight. I completed the first part of the bag without a handle; incomplete since I needed to get all the other materials. It does look promising and for that a pat on the back. I have not sewn for a  long while and glad to be able to contribute doing something while enjoying doing so. That is the motherly nature coming out, smile.

Me comprometi en la costura de algunas bolsas para sostener la pecha de Kagyu  Shedrup Chäling KFC. Bien, comencé temprano esta mañana a conseguir las medidas del bolso y cortar el material y verificar lo que otros materiales fueron necesarios: el forro, cinta de la tendencia e hilos. El material se dobló mal de la fábrica entonces se cortó mal por lo tanto nada se alineaba. Tenía que tener la gráfica en la correspondencia del material y finalmente el recorte se hizo y directamente. Completé la primera parte del bolso sin un tirador  incompleto ya(desde) que tenía que conseguir todos los otros materiales. Realmente parece prometedor y para esto un fácil en la espalda. No he cosido durante mucho tiempo y contento ser capaz de contribuir hacer algo disfrutando haciendo tan. Esto es la naturaleza maternal salir, sonrisa.


Another exciting adventure for the day was much later while attending a twitter party in the night. Somehow, I touched a key on the computer and did not realized what  happened and the internet accidentally went off. It was at the most inopportune timing. We were up til early hours of the morning doing research finding out why I was offline with my wireless running. It sure was frustrating but am happy that it certainly will not happen again as I learnt much about the laptop and the system. Oh that was an adventure to find out nothing was really wrong and was able to repair my laptop instead of paying to fix it as there was nothing really wrong. Sure was an exciting day, would not have it any other way! I got my computer working, hurray!!!!

Otra emocionante aventura para el día era mucho más adelante mientras asistía a una fiesta de twitter en la noche. De alguna manera, tocó una llave en el equipo y no se dio cuenta de lo sucedido y la internet salió accidentalmente. Es el momento más inoportuno. Nos subieron a primeras horas de la mañana investigando para averiguar por qué yo estaba fuera de línea con mi funcionamiento inalámbrico. Seguro que fue frustrante, pero estoy feliz de que ciertamente no va a suceder otra vez como aprendí mucho acerca de la computadora portátil y el sistema. Huy fue una aventura para averiguar nada estaba realmente mal y fue capaz de reparar mi laptop en vez de pagar para solucionarlo ya que no había nada realmente malo. Seguro que fue un día emocionante, no tendría de otra manera! Tengo mi equipo de trabajo, Hurray!
