Fry Jacks/Tortas Fritas - Belizean's Favorite/ El favorito de los Beliceños (Happy St. George's Caye Day!!!)





Buenos Dias a todos mis siguientes, espero que tengan una semana llena de alegria y de buenas noticias!!

Good morning all my followers, I hope you all have a week full of happiness and good news!!

I am sharing a Belizean favorite recipe and today most Belizeans will be having a hearty breakfast as they get energize to have a relaxing day after jumping up over the weekend. Hope it was safe and continues to be.

Estoy compartiendo un recta favorita de Belice y hoy mayoria de los Beliceños tendra un desayuno bueno como buscaran o recuperando despues de bailar todo este fin de semana. Esperi que haya sido sano lleno de allegria y sigue siendo sano.

This recipe was shared by a great friend, she also gave  specific instructions.

This is a flawless recipe but for one or two people only - good luck doubling the recipe.

Una buen amiga compartio esta receta conmigo y dio instruciones specificas, sonriendo.
Este receta esta sin fallas pero es solo para uno o dos personas- suerte haciendo para mas gente.

Ingredients: 

1 cup of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
Lee bit ah salt
about  2 teaspoons of Crisco shortening
1/3 cup of water
oil for frying


Method: 

1.  combine flour, backing powder, salt and shortening (breaking up with your fingers)

2.  add all the water at once and mix to a nice soft dough.

 3. cover and let it rest for a few minutes

4.  roll flat with rolling pin and cut into shapes.  put a small cut (or several small cuts)on each shape  down the center to prevent puffing

5. fry in hot oil

6. drain on paper towels

Note:  if you measure flour and water accurately there will be no stickiness


Ingredientes:


1 taza de harina
1 cuchada de baking powder
poquito de sal
approximadamente  2 cuchadas de manteca vegetal de Crisco o aciete
1/3 taza de agua
aciete para freir

Metodo: 

1.  combina la harina, polvo de baking , sal and manteca shortening   

2.  use todo el agua de una vez y mezcla haciendo un dough suave. 

 3. tapa y deja por unos minutos a descansar

4.  Rollo plana con rodillo y cortar en formas. Ponga una pequeña incisión (o varios pequeños cortes) en cada forma abajo el centro para evitar que sopla

5. se fríe en aciete caliente

6. pongaselo en una toalla de papel

Nota:  sí, si usted mida la harina y agua con precisión no habrá viscosidad

  1. This is delicious with beans and cheese. Also great with grape jelly and a cup of tea or coffee.
