Hola a todo el mundo.

Well, Lent is here and the cyclist are practising for that historic Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic from Belize City to the roundabout in San Ignacio, Cayo and return to Belize where there is a celebration. This is a classic race that has been happening for 84 years. There are a bit of visitors in this race but most cyclist are Belizeans and there is always hope that a Belizean will win. Last year Belizeans won for several years so it was quite a celebration. We hope a Belizean does make us proud again  this year.

Bien, la Cuaresma está aquí y los ciclistas están practicando para ese histórico Sábado Santo  ciclismo clásico de la ciudad de Belice a la rotonda de San Ignacio, Cayo y volverá a Belice donde hay una celebración al final. Se trata de una raza clásica que ha estado ocurriendo durante 84 años. Hay muy poco de visitantes internacional en esta carrera,  la mayoría de ciclista son Beliceños y hay esperanza siempre que va a ganar un Eeliceño. El año pasado los beliceños ganaron despues de varios años por lo que fue toda una celebración. Esperamos que un Beliceño nos hace orgullosos otra vez este año.

Our destination this week will be the Cayo District which is the largest district in Belize which is comprised with two towns. This district had a wide variety of adventures to offer visitors. There is something for those who enjoys nature, caves, archaeology, birds, horse back riding, hiking, canoeing, travelling with the family or on a honeymoon.

Nuestro destino esta semana será el distrito de Cayo que es el distrito más grande de Belice que se compone de dos ciudades. El distrito tiene una gran variedad de aventuras para ofrecer a los visitantes. Hay algo para todos aquellos que le gusta la naturaleza, cuevas, la arqueología, las aves, montar a caballo, senderismo, piragüismo, y viajar con la familia o en una luna de miel.

It all begins on our way to the Cayo District. The scenery is so beautiful as you go on the Western Highway. If you like you can stop at the Belize Zoo where the animals are in their elements and the Guanacaste Park. You will turn near the Mountain Pine Ridge where you would make sure to take a day to visit and enjoy the beautiful green canopy of the jungle. It is really breathtaking!

Todo empieza en nuestro camino hacia el distrito de Cayo. El paisaje es tan hermoso como se vaya en la autopista occidental. Si lo desea, puede parar en el Zoológico de Belice donde los animales están en sus elementos y/o en el Parque Guanacaste. Tiene que girar a cerca de la Mountain Pine Ridge donde se aseguraría un día para visitar y disfrutar de las hermosas dosel verde de la selva.

You will pass through the Twin Towns as you arrive at your destination where you can decide on where you will go each day and enjoy your stay.

Se pasará por las ciudades gemelas, al llegar a su destino donde usted puede decidir donde ir cada día y disfrutar de su estancia.

Here is  beautiful place I remember I went with my coworkers for a trip as a good bye trip for one of our friends. It was a beautiful day and most memorable.

Aquí es el lugar hermoso recuerdo que fui con mis compañeros de trabajo para un viaje como un viaje del adiós para uno de nuestros amigos. Fue un día hermoso y memorable.

There are also place for the naturalist and herbalist as we have many medicinal plant trails where you can learn about the healing properties. Our rainforest is like a pharmacy that produces it's numerous tonic, teas and tinctures.

También hay lugar para el naturalista y Herbolario pues tenemos muchos senderos de plantas medicinales, donde usted puede aprender sobre las propiedades curativas. Nuestra selva es como una farmacia que produce numerosos tónicos, tés y tinturas.

Canoe Trips

If you like adventures, a journey in the canoe through the exotic tropical path through the rainforest on the Macal, Mopan and Belize will be one of a kind. You will see the wonders of the wildlife and tropical flora. There is also an annual event name  "La Ruta Maya Belize Canoe Race" which is for amateurs and professionals.

Bird Watching

In the rainforest you will be amazed at the numerous colorful birds are seen throughout the treks and you will enjoy the sounds along the way. Some exotic birds you may encounter would be toucans, trogon and hummingbirds. On rare occasions you might get to see  a glimpse of the orange breasted falcon, king vulture or the harpy eagle. Enjoy the mystical sounds of the birds.

En el corazón de la selva pluvial usted se asombrará de las numerosas aves de colores se puede ver a lo largo de la excursiones y podrá disfrutar de los sonidos en el camino. Algunas aves exóticas que se pueden encontrar sería tucanes, trogon y colibríes. En raras ocasiones puede llegar a ver un atisbo de naranja halcón, zopilote rey o el águila arpía. Disfrutar de los místicos sonidos de las aves.



Caving and tubing

These are certainly adventures which you will marvel at the sight of the underground world. You get to see the stalagmites or magnificent caves and see the underworld of the Maya's sacred rituals. I have been caving and tubing, it sure was an adventure that I would not do now, at that time it sure felt exciting.

La Espeleología y Tubería 

Se trata ciertamente de aventuras que se maravillará de la vista del mundo subterráneo. Puedes ver las estalagmitas o magníficas cuevas y el submundo de los rituales sagrados de los mayas. He ido derrumbándome y en tubería,  seguro que era una aventura que no haría ahora, en aquel momento que parecía emocionante.

Last but not least "The Mayan sites."

There are numerous temples and ceremonial caves in the Cayo District. It has some marvelous sights embedded within the elements of the jungle. Some of these sites are Caracol, El Pilar, the archeological Reserve, the ceremonial site of Xuantunich, "the stone Maiden ."

I can remember getting on the hand-cranked ferry to cross the Mopan River to Xunantunich, the most visited Mayan site. From the top of the highest ruin you can see the beautiful canopy of the forest between the ruin and the Guatemalan border, it looks like you can almost step on it.

At the top of this temple you can see the Guatemala border on a clear day!

There is always something to do or you can just relax and be happy - the Belizean way on holiday!

Siempre hay algo que hacer o usted puede relajarse y ser feliz - en la forma de los beliceños de vacaciones!
