Welcome to the October 2012 Natural Living Blog Carnival: Ethical Shopping Choices

Welcome to the October 2012 Natural Living Blog Carnival: Ethical Shopping Choices This post was written for inclusion in the monthly Natural Living Blog Carnival hosted by Happy Mothering and The Pistachio Project through the Green Moms Network

This month our members have written posts about how they make purchasing choices.
-----
There are several variables that contribute toward purchasing a product. It depends on the quality, quantity sometimes but sometimes it depend on the vendor or person behind the product. If their service and mannerism are beautiful, it encourages me to continue purchasing from that vendor but if it is not, I prefer to go the extra mile for great service.

Well, I love going to the market or place where all sorts of fresh vegetables and fruits are sold. I love the smell of the fresh products. It is great to hear the farmers or vendors bartering. Most of the time, I have been where there is a garden or fresh market, the people are most always smiling. To me this says a lot in that they are happy with their produce. These people always have a kind smile or comment for you. These farmers love what they do and would in return produce healthy products. I don't believe these people or farmers are being paid fairly but based on economy, their work is a necessity to survive.

I do support Fair trade but I prefer to buy local food and would appreciate the use of less pesticide. The result of the use of the numerous pesticide is not known and will find out more at a future day which might be too late! At the supermarket, I do look at the quality, sometimes the price might be really economical but the product is not great, I prefer to pay for quality a bit more.

I sincerely appreciate when a vendor or clerk is nice, it really encourages sale. I do support Fair trade and appreciate the hard work of the individual that made it and not just the company image. It is a full circle and we all depend on each other for good reproduction!

  1. It does feel better to buy from someone who grew the food and you can talk with them and have more of a connection to your food source!
