Girls' Scout Final Day #Challenge for the #100th Anniversary Trophy! #GirlsScout

We are on almost our final complete day of our scavenger challenge.
Well, we had to do our best and try to make it to most of the places and at the same time enjoy learning more about Florida: the Sunshine state.

Although it is a bit tiring, I must say the girls were ready to go and get it over with. We were looking forward to the camporee and find out if our hard work was worth all the effort we are putting into it.

We started off with our closest friends in the neighborhood. We needed to meet with a firefighter in uniform. We went to the the nearest firefighters who were happy to take pictures with us.

Next, we had to take pictures with the beautiful cows in Miami Lakes. Did you know we have cows in Miami Lakes, it is cool to be able to see theses beautiful creatures.

This next view is of a street that is the name of the girls scout in the troop. The easiest one that we could find was Patricia. So we troop along to the street on the sunny day!

Next, we had to meet more people in uniform - off to meet the Navy men on duty! Thank you for taking care of our country!

Well, the mom's on duty also took pictures as well.

Shortly after, we meet more uniform men and women who are important in our community. We would be helpless without them to get our packages and mail on time, especially at this time. Thank you all for your help!

Next, we went to the Mall of the Americas which is opened in 1970 as Midway Mall. The name change to Mall of the Americas took place in December 1987.

"The Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition, Inc. (The Fair), located in MiamiFlorida, is known as one of Miami-Dade County’s largest annual family attractions. The fair is held by a private board of directors, and is a non-profit organization. It attracts nearly 600,000 visitors each year. The fair offers close to 100 rides, 50 games, 170 food vendors, close to 50,000 student and adult exhibits, 130 merchandise shops, competitions, the World of Agriculture, an ice show and circus." For  more information check website.

The Marlins Park begins its own history as the site opened and continues a legendary 77-year history of football, baseball, soccer, public events and major concerts attended by tens of millions of fans. For more information, please see website.

Well, this is our midpoint, and will close here til next post so it keeps the suspense as to where our next stop will be. So til next post, have a great day!

Girls' Scout Second Day Challenge for the 100th Anniversary Trophy! #GirlsScout

Well, we must complete this scavenger hunt 2012 for the 100th Anniversary of the Girls Scout. This was the 2nd day of the Scavenger hunt and we tried to complete all that was on our list to win the Challenge. Let's see how many South Floridians knows or have visited these places.

The sun was still shining as we made our way around Florida, after our way from the Keys we made our way to the Knaws Berry Farm in Homestead. They are famous for their strawberries and cinnamon rolls. Does anyone knows the history of this place?

Here is a little history:
Knaus Berry Farm has been owned and operated by members of the Knaus family for over 50 years. It is Located at: 15980 SW 248 Street, Homestead, Fl, 33031.
For more information on the Knaus Berry Farm, check out the website and on facebook.

Next we were off to the Black Point Park and Marina in Homestead, these are places to visit for a day and have a great outing with the children. A great way to know Florida, here there are beaches, bike trails, dog parks, golf courses, gun ranges, marina and pool, to name a few activities available.

For more information check the website.

Next we visited Cauley Square. It is a beautiful place to have tea, looks similar to a tea or pub in England, UK. For a little history :
The world-famous Tea Room Restaurant is a historic site unto itself providing rare dining experiences daily and weekends in a traditional Victorian atmosphere with classical music as a background to your enjoyment of extraordinary prepared fine food and home cooked old-fashioned delicacies for all occasions.
It is located at:
Cauley Square Shoppes
22400 Old Dixie Highway, Miami, Fl.

Check them out for New Year's Eve Activities and more information on the website.

Here is another Miami Attractions -: Deering Estate at Cutler. Here there are many special events, exhibits, tour classes, kids camp and rentals for private events can be found on the website.

Last but not least a piece of sad history regarding a flight lost in the everglades: Value Jet Memorial. We prayed for those gone and those who remain. For more information check the website.

This is the end of our 2nd day, we have one more day to complete the scavenger hunt. We certainly know a bit more about Florida's history and more about our local produce and farmers. It is great to support the local farmers and keep our history going. Hope you all enjoy the sites as we did.
